Spring!

Hello, bread friends! As I type this, the sun is peeking out briefly on an otherwise very cloudy Good Friday. My family and I are preparing to eat an early supper and head to church tonight. I'm already working on my baking and cooking schedule for tomorrow and Sunday, as we are hosting Easter. A busy and wonderful weekend!
I want to thank the many of you who have supported us in our journey to get a medical bed for our seven-year-old son, Milo. I am THRILLED to report that a couple weeks ago, his new bed arrived and was set up in our house! After years of trying very hard to get this bed paid for, we started saving up for it. It was very slow, but steady. But I was able to make some new connections at Mary Free Bed in Grand Rapids, and they were able to help us secure the funding! We are so blessed and relieved. Milo is now able to safely share a bedroom with two of his brothers, and we are able to shuffle the bedroom situation in our house to suit our always-changing large family situation (two in college/grad school, nine of us at home year-round). Milo is learning to use his new Inspire implant, and we are very hopeful for restful sleep for him, all night long, very soon.
In bakery news: my beloved Sunmix mixer stopped working just a few days before last week's bake! Sadly, that meant I had to cancel this week's bake, including Hot Cross Buns for Good Friday (an important bakery tradition). I was sad with you all. But there is good news! After lots of phone calls with customer service, we figured out the issue and got the mixer running again! Hooray! It still has a noisy gear/bearing issue that has been longstanding, and we will have to drive the mixer to Chicago to get it fixed. But I will keep on baking (noisily) now that the mixer is running again. Here is my spring schedule for the remaining FIVE WEEKS until the Texas Township Farmer's Market opens! Can you believe it?! I can't wait to see so many of you there, and meet some new friends.
