SERINA TOMAN - WIFE, MOTHER, HOMESCHOOLER, HOMESTEADER, AND SOURDOUGH BAKER

Hi! I’m Serina, and I’d like to be your local sourdough baker. I operate my small cottage microbakery out of my home. I’ve been married to Jason for 25 years, and together we have nine children. We live on a 9.5 acre homestead in southwest Michigan with gardens, goats, chickens, rabbits, and barn cats.

I love to bake bread! I have baked on and off for many years, including freshly ground whole grain bread, but in recent years have gotten serious about sourdough. Baking for my large family provides ample opportunity to learn and grow, and before long, I was hooked. I quickly realized that I love the process and challenge of making sourdough and wanted to share my passion for fresh, wholesome bread with my local community. I also saw an opportunity to raise support for a medical bed for my son, Milo (click here to learn more about him). Thus Bramblewood Bakehouse was born.

Things I’m passionate about besides sourdough -

* Down syndrome advocacy
* Lutheran liturgy
* Music
* Homeschooling
* Gardening
* Coffee

 Sourdough is a lifelong craft. Each loaf I make represents a commitment to continuous learning and development. Similar to my background in voice and piano, I appreciate the value of practice and the insights it brings. My focus is not on achieving perfection but on enhancing the beauty, complexity, and nutritional value of each creation. There is great value in studying that which I can never truly perfect.

Thank you for joining me on this journey!
